Paint Correction By MNV AUTO DETAILING

what is paint correction?
Paint correction is a term that is now used by professional car detailers and car lovers worldwide to basically describe the process of eliminating defects , scratches and swirl marks and bringing the paint back to it's original condition. These defects can be things like swirl marks , scratches, hologram and deep scratches.
Before any paint correcting take place , car is properly washed. One of the best method to wash your car is the two bucket method. Avoid using cheap sponge or brushes as it will add more damages to your paint. Buy a high quality wash mitt , also a wash bucket grit guard. Clay bar to remove contamination and make the paint nice and smooth. This will help the paint correction process by helping the products bonding better. Paint correction is sometimes done by wet sanding to remove scratches which is a complicated process and can severely damage your paint if you aren't an expert. Then we start by compounding the paint , compounding pads varies by the paint surfaces. But one of the important steps is compounding , as if its done properly will remove our scratches and sanding marks. Do take your time in this process .
Then we move to polishing , polishing will remove the marks that left by compounding and will bring our paint closer to that nice glossy finish. At each step we have to keep inspection the paint to make sure the result we were after have been achieved. After correction, the panels are wiped down with an isopropyl alcohol which removes any oils that may have been left over from the polish and reveals the true finish, including any areas that may have been missed or require a little more work. Once complete, fully corrected paintwork will shine brilliantly and produce stunning reflections because there are now no longer any scratches and imperfections to scatter and reflect the light rays off in different directions. Now we can either apply a layer of wax or paint sealant. They are both great and provide nice protection to the paint.
Paint correction is a complicated process that requires lots of work and extensive labor, that's why professional charges so much to do it even on small cars. But once it's done properly , it can make your paint new again.

There are many factors in doing paint correction , all of them together help us to achieve the finish we are looking for. Always remember to not work under the sun, sun creates a lot of heat on paint and on you. Try to find a nice shade or if you have a garage bring your car in. If you are working inside a garage , make sure you have proper lighting to see the mark or buy paint correction flash light. This will help you a lot in location the swirl marks.
Always take your time , it's not a race. Never rush the process , work in a small section with low speed. Higher the speed creates lots of heat that results in burning or damaging the paint. Most of the paint corrections done at lower speed , don't too much or a little products. Try to stay in between, something like 5 small dots is usually enough. Make you keep the pad flat on the paint , it's very important to keep your balance. Before start using your machine always prime your pad, put some product on the pad and rub it with your fingers to cover the entire pad. Also , spray a bit clay lube on the pad to get it ready. Combination of compound and pads is very important for the correction, make sure to do some research before starting the process. Make sure to tape off trims , otherwise you need to clean them after. Cleaning your pad is another factor , as you are working make sure to clean your pad with air compressor or a brush. To wipe the panels only use high quality microfiber towels , it will take lots of time and energy . Last thing you want is to add more marks to your paint by using cheap towels.
Lastly, it is important to distinguish between paintwork that has been truly corrected and paintwork that has been treated with products that are designed to mask and fill surface imperfections such as an all in one polish for example. This should not be referred to as paint correction even if no scratches or blemishes are apparent, because they have not been genuinely removed and are still present under the products fillers, which in time, will wash away and reveal them once more. Proper paint correction can make your car looking like new car and keep it's value , it comes really handy if you are selling your car. This shows that you cared about this car and kept it in pristine condition.
